About the Role:
The Instructor Nurse Aide Program plays a critical role in preparing aspiring nurse aides to deliver high-quality patient care in various healthcare settings. This position is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive training programs that meet state and federal regulatory standards. The instructor will facilitate both theoretical and practical learning experiences, ensuring students acquire the necessary clinical skills and knowledge to succeed in their certification and future careers. By fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment, the instructor helps students develop professional competencies, ethical standards, and effective communication skills. Ultimately, this role contributes to the healthcare workforce by equipping competent nurse aides who can provide compassionate and safe care to patients.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification in the United States.
- Current state-approved Nurse Aide Instructor certification or eligibility to obtain it.
- Minimum of two years of clinical experience as a nurse aide in a healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of nurse aide scope of practice, patient care standards, and healthcare regulations.
- Excellent communication and instructional skills with the ability to engage diverse learners.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching or training adult learners in a healthcare or educational environment.
- Additional certifications in healthcare education or related fields.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and healthcare technology.
- Background in curriculum development and assessment design.
- Bilingual abilities or experience working with diverse populations.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver curriculum aligned with state nurse aide certification requirements and healthcare best practices.
- Conduct classroom instruction and hands-on clinical training to teach essential nursing aide skills and procedures.
- Assess student performance through exams, practical evaluations, and ongoing feedback to ensure competency.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and certification documentation in compliance with regulatory bodies.
- Collaborate with healthcare facilities to coordinate clinical placements and ensure students gain real-world experience.
- Stay current with changes in healthcare regulations, nursing practices, and educational methodologies to continuously improve the program.
- Provide mentorship and support to students, addressing individual learning needs and fostering professional development.
Skills:
The required skills enable the instructor to effectively communicate complex healthcare concepts and procedures to students with varying levels of experience. Strong instructional abilities are essential for delivering engaging lectures and facilitating hands-on clinical training that meets certification standards. Organizational skills are used daily to manage course materials, student records, and compliance documentation accurately. Preferred skills such as curriculum development and familiarity with healthcare technology enhance the instructor's capacity to innovate teaching methods and integrate modern tools into the learning process. Additionally, interpersonal skills support mentoring students and collaborating with clinical partners to provide comprehensive educational experiences.

Nursing School Graduate
Technical or Professional License(s)/Certification(s)
Registered Nurse (current unencumbered VA license)
Infection Control Preventionist
Adult CPR (current certification)
IV Therapy Certificate
Level of Experience
At least 3 years of related work experience teaching adults, preferably in a nurse aid training program. Prefer experience in long-term care.

Supervision
The position is expected to perform independently and exercise good judgment. The position will monitor and review the work of students.
